Working part-time has made me more productive. For the most part, I’m still achieving similar outputs to when I was full-time. I don’t have the space to procrastinate — I stay focused, prioritise better, and keep things moving. It’s also made me a clearer communicator — making sure people know where things are at, being upfront about what’s possible, and setting realistic timelines.
Tips for making it work. Make your hours visible — in your email signature, calendar, or out-of-office. If you’re consistent, people quickly get used to when you’re available and respect those boundaries.
What I wish others knew about senior part-time work. People in senior part-time roles are often among the most loyal and committed, because the opportunity to keep progressing your career while balancing other responsibilities means so much. The time away from work is also an asset — I come back with fresher thinking and new perspectives that help me see the bigger picture and approach challenges in new ways.
